Mushroom knife N°08

Created by Opinel to make it easier to cut and prepare mushrooms, this tool has a thin, curved blade with a serrated back, for easy removal of the cuticle. Its natural varnished beech handle incorporates a boar hair brush for easy removal of soil.

Origin: Central and Western Europe but present on all three continents of the Northern hemisphere.
Tree: One of the most elegant large trees, with a smooth trunk and dense foliage. Beech wood is very good for carving.
Wood: White or very pale brown, fine, even grain, with straight lines.
Use: Widely used in furniture, brush-making, toys, parquet, etc.
Sandvik stainless steel
The Sandvik stainless steel, developed by Opinel is renowed for its incomparable cutting qualities and does not require any special washing upkeen. The stainless steel capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, giving it a good cutting edge and an excellent resistance to corrosion.
Virobloc double safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring was improved in 2000 on all the Opinel ranges. In addition to locking of the blade in the open position (safety of use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety during carrying).
